Latest updates!

Hi all!
These are the latest updates for choir :D

Please check out your tpjc.net for the schedule!

There are a few changes made!
If there is a need, pls print it out or write it down somewhere to remind yourself! (:

SLS, pls take note of the schedule.
For Monday's choir practice, Ms Ong will be going through the SYF piece section by section,
starting with the sopranos!
All other sections, please work on the carols during sectionals.
For the other choir practices, if Ms Ong is working on a particular section for the SYF piece,
all other sections pls work on the carols unless Ms Ong has thought your section the SYF piece,
then only do you work on the SYF piece during sectionals yeah (:
Also, SLs, since we are having choir practices in the afternoon practically everyday, it may not be necessary for your section to have sectionals inbetween classes. Pls do let me/gill know if you want to cancel your sectionals because it may not be necessary. (:

On a lighter note, there will be less practices for the month of December because alot of sops
and tenors are not around, so we are left with altos and basses, hence its impossible to have combined practices. Section leaders who feel that their section needs more practice
can come back for sectionals as Ms Ong will be available on the first week of december! (:

Pls also check your tpjc.net and update the latest availability schedule so that we know when you are not around (: Thanks loads :D
AND BRING $5 FOR CHOIR FUND if you havent paid :D
TYVM :DDD

THATS ALL :D
Cya all soon!

So what's happening during NOV & DEC?

Ok, so here's the plan for the last few practices we're gonna have for this year! D:

SYF training comprises of sectionals, watching concerts, carolling...

For carolling, we're gonna learn 10 songs and.... we can hold scores when singing!

We know that the last few practices are gonna be like HELL or even worse, BUT! stay strong and hang in there because we're all in this together yeah?

Please don't pon any of the practices without super valid reason, cuz we're gonna be learning the SYF song which is EXTREMELY IMPT TTM!

Any queries pls ask ur SLs first before heading straight to MsOng yourself k?

Alrighty, that's all.

Feel free to add anymore info if there'e anything missing ya?

CYA SOON!
Victoria

Oh oh hi guys it's Gillian here! Anyways, all sectionals and choir practices will be held in the CHOIR ROOM. Except for 18nov, where Sops and Altos share the same sectional time slot. In this case, we'll update you on which rooms to use (most likely one of the SR and the Choir Room though) But the rest of the other timings, no other sectionals clash so you don't have to worry.

Sunday Pomo practice is highly encouraged because you get to sing the songs with adult singers! But it is not compulsory. But highly encouraged. Yes. Hahaha.

The Movie Marathon will be held on 10dec, Friday. Location is to be confirmed, because we were thinking of having it in a classroom in the school. Can you imagine, one classroom, we push all the tables to the back/side and then we lay out our floor mats, sleeping bags and we bring our own pillows and stuff and watch the movie from there?! So cool right! :D Hehe. Yes. But the school has to approve and open the room for us, so we'll update you guys.

The above schedule is just for you to see on the blog. The one that can be printed out and hung on your door or something, is sent to you via tpjc.net, kudos to Victoria! :D So yes. Head over to tpjc.net and download it okay? And remember to write the dates down somewhere!! But all practices are still tentative, but close to confirmed. So just be alert for any other changes on the way!

As Victoria said, we're all in this together :) A choir is special because it's made up of all our voices. Every practice is important because you get to learn new techniques, brush up on your old, improve on your own singing, learn new songs, correct old mistakes... And each and everyone of you is important :) I know so many practices will make anyone feel sian about coming for practice - don't worry, me and Eliz and pretty much the rest of the Exco is feeling sian about having so many practices too. But let's persevere together okay? Let's look towards that Gold, or Gold w Honors and believe that we can achieve it! Remember the musical we had, and Poland? We achieved success and we managed to get what we wanted because we were determined and passionate about what we were doing. So let's carry this passion forward, and hwaiting!

Love, Gillian! (and the rest of the Exco)

October timetable.

Hey guys!

Note, voice training will most likely be in Choir Room and Sectionals will be held in one of the SRs. The reason why we're practicing with Wild Empire so much is because we'll be performing our First Half songs with them to strengthen our sound. So yes. &most importantly, take good care your health and your THROAT :D

Update!

Hey guys!

Just in case you haven't heard about the news, the concert on the 5th September is cancelled. It will most likely be postponed to November though, so keep your eyes open!

Please return ALL your tickets to Victoria, and if you had paid for it, please take your $16 from Jonah Wang. We need it asap, so please return it if you haven't!

We will still be performing our musical spoof at the end of the year, so try to think of any possible ideas to add/contribute to our existing storyline okay?

Meanwhile, Ms Ong will most likely be conducting vocal training in preparation for SYF AFTER our whole PW presentation and whatever is over. So please be prepared to sing again! Don't anyhow go lose your voice or eat a lot of chili/curry/fried stuff okay! Must take care of your voices so we'll be in tip-top shape for SYF next year ;)

Study hard during this one week break, let's do well for Promos as a whole Choir! We're all in this together!

See you all when school reopens! :)

Gillian

Adding on to Gillian's post, Deborah says that if you are holding on to Fiona's gown when in Poland, you can keep it (: Hahas yeah i know its kinda random but thats all :D

Work hard for promos people!
Don't give up nomatter how tough it seems okay!
WE WILL PROMOTE TOGETHER WHOO~!~!~! :DDD
Elizabeth :D

Sunday, August 29, 2010

Hey guys! :D

As you all know, it's our study break now and there's no CCA! >:( I feel kind of weird that there's no Choir on Wednesdays and Fridays now lol, not sure if you feel the same.

Anyways, for those who are interested to study together, let's all occupy the Library from 230 on Wednesdays and 3 on Fridays yeah? Since we're not supposed to have CCA now, let's make use of the time to finish up our tutorials and start studying for Promos! You can leave anytime you want aha because it's your own study time 8) Treat it like normal CCA time, but instead, we study!

Also, for the concert on 5th September, since we're not performing anymore, let's all try to go for the 7.30pm show! Please remember to pay for your 7.30pm tickets if you haven't! Pay to Jonah Wang asap. Most of the Excos (Music + Admin comm) will be helping out backstage, and Nadiah and I will be Emceeing so haha you guys need to find your own arrangements (as a section/own cliques) to go for the show yourselves yeah! It's this Sunday ;)

Let's all work hard for this short period of time! LET'S ACE PROMOS TOGETHER WHOOO and show them that not only do we work/play hard in Poland, we can also ace our studies! Jia you!

Hi all! This announcement is important so take note alrights (:

NUMBER ONE: Lyrics
These are the lyrics to the songs, please memorize them asap alrights ^^

Cash Changes Everything

Ps: The black words are the original lyrics, the green onces are the spoofed version.

Cash Changes Everything (I)
Love, love chang-es ev-‘ry-thing: hands and faces, earth and sky
Cash, cash chang-es ev-‘ry-thing: hands and faces, earth and sky

Love, love chang-es ev-‘ry-thing: how you live and how you die.
Cash, cash chang-es ev-‘ry-thing: how you live and how you die.

Love can make the sum-mer fly or a night seem like a life-time.
Cash now give us end-less fun or a night seem like a life-time.

Yes love, love chang-es ev-‘ry-thing: Now I tremble at your name.
Yes cash, cash chang-es ev-‘ry-thing: Now I tremble at your name.

Noth-ing in the world will ev-er be the same.
Noth-ing in the world will ev-er be the same.

Cash Changes Everything (II)
Off in-to the world we go; plan-ning futures, shap-ing years.
Off in-to the world we go; plan-ning shop-ping, try-ing shoes.

Love, bursts in and sud-den-ly, all our wis-dom dis-ap-pears.
Cash, bursts in and sud-den-ly, all our wor-ries dis-ap-pears.

Love makes fools of ev-ery-one; all the rules we make are bro-ken.
Cash makes fools of ev-ery-one; all the nets and cre-dit cards too.

Yes love, love chang-es ev-‘ry-one; live or pe-rish in its flame.
Yes cash, cash -es ev-‘ry-one; live or pe-rish in its bills.

Love will nev-er, nev-er let you be the same.
Cash will nev-er, nev-er let you be the same.

Lover will nev-er, nev-er let you be the same.
Cash will nev-er, nev-er let you be the same.

Ah –
Yes cash –

First Man You Remember

[Guys] I want to be the first man you remember
I want to be the last man you forget
I want to be the one you’ll always turn to
I want to be the one you won’t regret

May I be first to say you look delightful
May I be first to dance you round the floor
The very first to see your face by moonlight
The very first to walk you to the door

[Girls] Well young man I’ll be delighted
There is nothing I would rather do
What could be a sweeter mem’ry
Than sharing my first bill with you?

[Guys] I want to be the first man you remember
[Girls] The very first to buy me a big treat
[Guys] I want to be the one you always turn to
[Girls] The first to make my young heart miss a beat
(Away from the guys, but facing the audience) ew!
[Both] The very first...
The very first!

Other Pleasures

Other pleasures, and I've known many...
Afternoons in warm Venetian squares
Brief encounters, long siestas...
Pleasures old and new, can't compare with you

You amaze me! Where did you come from?
You do things champagne could never do.
Crystal winters, crimson summers...
Other pleasures, I would trade them all for you.

Pleasures old and new, can't compare with you...
Wild mimosa, the scent of evening,
Shuttered rooms, with sunlight breaking through,
Crazy soirees, lazy Sundays...
Other pleasures, I would trade them all for you.

Sailing off in the night on a silver lake
Taking more from this life than I ought to take...
Other pleasures, I would trade them all for you.

Mermaid Song

Guys: (I am a mermaid with golden hair)
I am a rich man with stylish hair

Girls:
I've never seen one like you

Guys: (Not all us mermaids have......I have no tail at all)
Not all us rich men love credit cards
I only want your love

Girls: (Well I've never seen any....Maybe a touch too tall)
Well I've never seen any spoilt brats with such big hearts,
I'd say this tale was a touch too tall
Maybe a touch too tall

Guys: (Sailors would smash on my jagged rock, lured by my siren song)
You are so pretty and beautiful
I only have eyes for you

Girls: (It isn't the song of the......that's where it all goes wrong)
It isn't your charm and your good looks that captured me
That's where your theory goes sadly wrong
That's where it all goes wrong

Guys: I thought you'd know better
You know nothing about rich men

Girls: You know nothing about poor girls

Guys: I do, much more than you
If I gave you ev'ry thing that I had
Would you stay here for me?

Girls: I wouldn't be foolish enough to stay by your side
I'd drive my Ferrari out of here
(say) Hasta la vista, baby!

Thats all for the lyrics (:
SPECIAL THANKS to those who helped to send me the spoofed version of the lyrics! <3 And also thanks to all of you who helped to come up with ideas for this set of lyrics :D

NUMBER TWO : Consent forms
There will be consent forms regarding the musical passed around on Monday (23rd August) so please be alert!
The consent forms will be passed to Gillian so SLs please collect
the consent forms from Gillian on Monday.
Gillain will sms you all when she gets the consent forms yeah!
Please hand back the consent forms to your SLs on Tuesday (24th August).
SLs pls compile the forms and kindly pass the consent forms to Gillian yeah (:

NUMBER THREE: Ticketing Sales
The tickets for the 5th Sept concert are out for sale!
Kindly purchase them from the admin comm in your section yeah!

Sopranos: Sherene, Victoria
Altos: Gillian, Deborah, Ariel
Tenors: Darren
Bass: Jonah Wang, Winston

Each ticket is priced at $16.
The concert is at Scape Audi, behind Cineleisure at Orchard.
The concert is hosted by Wild Empire.
Free seating.
The one we're performing for will start at 7.30pm.
Please buy the tickets from the respective people in your section (:
Please take note: First come first serve basis, no reservations, and pls kindly pay on the spot (:

We will be checking the ticket sales on Wednesday and Friday yeah~!
We have to try to get the tickets sold out by the end of next week,
so please sell as many tickets as possible (:

NUMBER FOUR: Costume check
There will be a costume check on Wednesday, 25th August.
Please remember to bring your costumes then to let the welfare, logisitics and publicity check (:! Its our last practice!

For the first half songs, we will be wearing our gowns and the suits yeah.
Girls pls check that you still have the belts, & if you lost your belt etc,
Pls inform us asap so we can prepare the ribbons to act as your belt (:

For guys:
You all will be acting as rich guys, so its fine to just wear your choir suits. However, please bring your own tie as part of the costume (not the choir costume one, another tie of your own selection).

For girls:
Dress as simply as possible.
Plain tops, dress or skirts.
NO shorts, slippers...
NO tight fitting or skirts that are too short.
Keep it as SIMPLE and POOR looking :D
NO heels pls (:

Just bring your costumes on Wednesday for checking yeah (:

NUMBER FIVE: Updates
Over the weekend, please visit this blog regularly
and also check your tpjc.net because we will be sending information over there as well (This blog is public so it's not kinda safe =P).
Another important thing to take note,
please check your hotmail/gmail/email etc because Victoria will be sending over
the invitation for the private tpjchoir yahoo group,
And it will be much more convenient to disseminate any information over there.
The recording will also be uploaded via the yahoo group yeah (:

NUMBER SIX: Fine system (:

Latecoming:
$n+1, n being the number of times being late without a valid reason.
For example, late first time: $2. Late second time: $3. Late third time: $4.
There is CAP at $4, which means that for eg this person is late 3 times, the person still pays $4.

Skipping practice without valid reason:
For pon-ing without reason, please note that there is NO fine system.
We follow the school's system because hehe pon CCA without reason is same as truancy according to the teachers =X.
So NOTE that there is no acceptance of parent's letter if you are sick! Only MC.
For those that cannot come on Wed/Fri due to studies, it's a valid reason so its accepted.
According to the teachers, first time skipping without valid reason, the teachers would have to be informed. The third time would result in being banned from CCA. x[
So please please please have a valid reason yeah (:

Scores:
For scores, it is $1 for every set of score that you forgot to bring. SLs would have to check for each song they do with the section!

IMPORTANT: THERE IS NO MORE 5 MINS GRACE. So if you come in at 3.01pm/2.31pm, its considered late (if you do not have valid excuse la). We look at the clock! So PLEASE come early okayy!!!

Thats all for now!
Please remember to check this blog, your hotmail and your tpjc.net mail regularly alrights!

Oh yes if there are any mistakes (as usual T.T) please feel free to edit this post :D
Thanks loads!

Ms Ong suggested to come for the Wednesday Practice,
Then for Friday perhaps you can study in school until 4pm,
then come and join the choir in the musical preparation until 6.30pm.
That way you can still join the choir in the musical and just miss the combined choir practices with Kranji and Pasir Ris Crest. (:
It's just a suggestion yepx! And if studying in school is not effective and you prefer to go home to study, then its up to you yepx!

YEah thats all for now!
If there are any changes there should be updates :D
Oh yes if any of the above information is wrong feel free to update/edit alrights!

Cya all (:
