Hey choir! Some info about the auditions are out.

Well, the auditions will be held after the choir camp individually.
Criteria to be selected:
1. Singers must be able to sing correctly from starting to end of all 3 songs (not that hard right..?)
2. How well the singers know the song (how well you know the dynamics of the songs)

Updates (College Road Run Week)

Hello all, just want to say again: Great job for our first combined performance!!! It was really quite good, and I've heard some people were quite impressed. Let's keep up this spirit and push onwards for the SYF!

Just some quick updates and reminders:

25 Feb (Wednesday)- College Road Run
Because of the Road Run, there is no practise this coming Wednesday. However, we will still make up the 3 hours we missed by installments. That means....

27 Feb (Friday)- Extended pratise
Most likely will be from 2.30-6.30 or 1.30-5.30. I will confirm this at a later date, so make sure to come back and check.

Please also remember to bring $10 for the choir fund, to pay for the camp. This will count as March/April fund, which means that we will not collect for choir fund till May.

HELLO! This post is specially for the year 2s :)

Remember to pass $5 to ME(Ming En!) on the next practice which is Friday.
The money will aid the funding for the J1s' Welcome Party cum Choir Camp and other misc stuff(if there are any left).
*FYI: We may consider getting Mac breakfast if we have enough $$! :D

1. Remember to have a PENCIL with you during practices,so at least you can take down whatever your section leaders (SLs) tell you to take note, e.g. where you can breathe in cases where the whole phrase is superrrrrr longggggggg..

2.Remember to have your WATER BOTTLE with you during practice.
PLEASE DONT DEHYDRATE YOURSELF WHEN SINGING.
water is super essential for your body especially your throat. haha.

3. DO NOT LOSE YOUR SCORES OR FORGET TO BRING THEM. ( i wont know what ms ong will want you to do.. )

Preparing for Camp!!

Hi all, nice to see so many positive comments all over the chatbox, hope this also translates to high numbers of interested J1s P:

The J1's all know that they have to take part in the school-organised orientation camp, but I bet you all don't know that choir's also organising our own orientation camp for you guys!

Anyway, this is more of a shoutout to my fellow J2s. I'm calling for leaders to help me organise it, to be held on 6th and 7th March, the weekend before the March holidays. The number of leaders needed will depend on the number of new recruits who will be joining us this year. So to increase you chances of being chosen, invite more juniors to join if you can ;)

Basic requirements: must know the 2 setpieces well, no problems with attendence and exhibit leadership qualities. I'm also pushing to allow non-Exco only, so that more of you guys can have something to write in your SGCs.

The Exco is also planning to give out a choir tee during the camp. Problem is- we still don't have one yet! So I'm inviting everyone to turn to our dusty and forgotten forums (look for the link at the right side) to discuss what designs and colours you want to see.

Wishing everyone a good friendship week, even though it's going to be a Friday the 13th, and we have to commit 4 hours to choir on Valentine's Day. Look on the bright side people- we're working closer and closer to our goals for the middle of the year :) See you all real soon!

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN CHOIR

hello all~
i'm addressing the J1s who are reading this in particular.
current choir seniors,if you have more reasons to add on,just post it on the tagboard.
we have lots of convincing to do.

WHY SHOULD YOU [J1] JOIN TPJCHOIR

1. I know TPJChoir isnt as pro as other choirs,those obvious ones like VJ,MJ,AJ. but even though our choir standard is not as good as theirs at the moment, it is a chance for us to push this choir to greater heights,to show the drastic improvement (hopefully!) in our choir standard. we'll be doing good for the future batches (provided nth happens to the choir.lol)

2. You'll get to learn the correct singing techniques that you never knew before (i didnt know!) & really show off your vocals. there's really more techniques to learn & improve,even if you may have choir background. even though you may like pop singing to choral singing, with the basics in choral singing, you'll be a better singer,you'll never guess. :)

3. There is an overseas competition-cum-performance trip to Bratislava,Slovakia,somewhere in Europe. when will you get the chance to go to Europe with your group of friends who share the same passion as you? sch performing arts overseas trips are usually subsidised. consider this.

4. Look at all the activities that we'll be involved for the first half of this year? I think it should be enough to fill up & beautify your SGC.

5. Think. even though the practices maybe very tedious & tiring, there will still be a sense of accomplishment & achievement when all of us, together as a team, reach our goals & aims.
the fun that you can have together with your friends & seniors in choir is unlike those experience you get in other CCAs.

6. You can just do anything in choir. play sports or just initiate any activities with your choir friends. there's no restriction to whatever activities you want to carry out together with your choir friends,outside of choir. Some of your choir seniors do play sports before/after choir together. so no worries.. (:

7. Lastly,there are quite a few people who dont have choir background (mostly frm uniform groups). Considering the other reasons above, why dont you have a change in CCA? you will be realising another hidden talent of yours.


Consider these reasons carefully..

now you know what you'll be missing out if you dont join choir!

everybody was like damn shocked when we have to go for the choir auditions...den we keep asking do we rili have to sing and stuff like tt...around 0930 i tink...we went into the choir room...my og was like the 2nd or 3rd to go in...guys auditioned pretty fast...but the girls took some time...hmm...but y the guys audition so fast? cos we screwed it...damn funny lar...the audition was like they play some notes on the piano and ask u to sing it...so during the first try...we tried to miss only the last note...den tt guy asked us to sing again...den i was like tinking oh shit ggfied i dun wanna join choir! so 2nd one i screwed it...i go miss all LOL! damn ridiculous lar u miss only 1 in the first and all in the 2nd try...den there was this guy called joshua my official first fren in my OG den he kept laughing during the auditions until the guy testing us damn pissed...WOOTS! so whew...i almost got in...but i made myself not to go in oso...lol...

I think i'm going to join Choir, AGAIN. LOL. In TPJC, all performing arts are the most previleged ones. Cause, when subsidising overseas trip, they will consider performing arts ones first. As performing arts is TPJC's niche area. HOWEVER, they have 3 practice per week. Wednesday, Friday and SATURDAY. So its like tiring and have to come back to college on Saturday for CHOIR??!! LOL. Oh they totally use up the days allowed for CCA Practice. Because, my college's CCA practices are only allowed to be held on these three days. -.-

Cohort wide Choir auditions was held on the first 2 days. Was so happy when the Sit, maybe the assistant conductor of the Choir or something said i've got good pitch and tone. I mean that's written on the small piece of paper where he graded the people. LOL.

He asked," Are you from Choir last time?".

I reply with ..."Yes...".

"Were you a section leader?"

"No.."

"Member?"

"No... Chairperson"

Okay then students have to go audition for choir. Which is damm stupid.

Woah and i almost got in sia.. Luckily i tried my best to screw up the last part and dont make it seem obvious, if not ahh wanna quit choir damm mafan one sia..

Its like 7 guys including me in the music room..

Then 5 guys got eliminated, left me and the indian.

Woah then i gan chiong, why nv ask me go out, so i made my voice hoarse and sang" LARRRR LARRR LARRR LARRRR LARRRRRRRRR"

Hahaha then the indian guy got into choir!! LOOSER!!

~4th thing - CCA SUCKS

TPJC doesnt excel in any cca, i asked the group leader, he said that all the sports except hockey doesnt have a coach, all is taught by P.E teachers..

Damm it sia... Screw them...

Oh and the only cca you have a chance to get gold in is CHOIR.
